Optimal Catheterisation

Optimal catheterisation means less friction and less complications thus improving the quality of life for patients and their families.

The Hydrophilic Low-Friction Catheter

All the catheters in the LoFric range share two critical qualities: hydrophilicity – the ability to bind and retain as much water as possible and balanced osmolality – the ability to match conditions in the urethra. Together these result in low friction – which reduces complications and provides comfort on both insertion and removal.

Hydophilicity- The art of binding and retaining water

The LoFric principle

LoFric has a unique hydrophilic surface coated with salt (NaCl) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). After immersion in water, the hydrophilic layer creates a gentle liquid surface around the catheter, dramatically reducing the risk of trauma and other complications.

The only Catheter with balanced Osmolality

The osmolality of a hydrophilic catheter should match that of human urine (600–1200 mOsm/kg). Too low and there is too much friction, with increased risk of sticking and trauma. Too high, and soreness can occur. LoFric is the only hydrophilic catheter with balanced osmolality.

Low friction

The hydrophilicity and balanced osmolality of LoFric result in lower friction. LoFric gives better insertion and removal performance, reducing the risk of pain, trauma and urethral complications.
